"Flora" Late 30s Art Deco Engagement Ring
"Flora" Late 30s Art Deco Engagement Ring
Interesting solitaire classic from the late 30s deco era. It has a pattern on the half moons that surround the diamond that look almost like a sun burst, or like petals, depending on how you look at it. There are more patterns on the shoulders that step down to the band which also has remnants of beautiful details still visible. Under the gallery there’s a beautiful scrolly design in pierced work that allow light up under the diamond.
The diamond is a wonderful chunky old mine cut diamond, white & eye clean. It’s ~.28ct. Old mine cut diamonds were cut by hand from the 1700s to the mid 1800s, before the steam lathe was invented. The diamond is held in place by new tips so it’s safe and secure in it’s mounting. It also has a new shank (band).
